Preparing your Autistic child for any move

We have recently moved from a 1500 square foot house to a home that has a basement/rec room and over 3000 sq foot of space for everyone to be in. In preparing our son for the move we would take him by the house and tell him that soon this would be his new house. now this took about 2 months of doing this and telling him what. was going to happen so as not to disrupt his routine. it is the same thing when preparing him for a break from school I have learned that by doing this it makes the transition much easier on him as well as the rest of the family.
