getting a child with Autsim to help around the house

it is hard to get a child with Autism to do what they are asked. this after noon My sons room was a Mess and My husband went in and told him to clean his room well now he cleaned his room but he put all of his trains into a pile instead of stacking the track nice and neat. So as I sit here and write I am attempting to figure out a way to get him to put his track away nice and neat without having a melt down or a fight about it or him trying to explain why. but then there are times you will ask him to pick up and clean up and he just jumps right in and starts to clean up. Most of the time the Behaviour that he has been Exhibiting has been due to carbs or sugar or the Combination thereof. Those two things seem to be his biggest Triggers one thing that does help us with our son is Vitamins. when he gets Extra Vitamins we both notice a lot less Autistic Behaviour and a lot less rough houseing but a lot of the being rough is your Typical 6 year old boy coming out as it will. A lot of times when I am having a difficut time getting my son to do what I want him to I usually try and talk though it with him and try to explain to him in words he can understand why he can or cannot do something. as sometimes if you talk to him you can better understand why he does not want to comply with what you want him to do or think he should be doing.

The Challanges of Autism

being a parent of any child with special needs is never easy. When you throw Autism into the mix it can get even harder. THese past few weeks I have found that out First hand as I have recently started back to work in the last month and we all have noticed paul's behaviour go from good and doing what he is supposed to do to being Beligerant and defiant and even getting physical. Which is not normal for him at all. well it turns out he was just having a bad week for what ever reason, and did not know or understand how to communicate this to the rest of us in a positive way. I am hoping that once we settle into a Routine if what he can expect each and every day that things will get better.
