funny How when you take away games from a kiddo of any age on the Autism Spectrum they do find other things to do. on a side note having cable issues has helped to thanks Comcast.

Paul is now in 6th grade. WOW where does time go. We are both very proud of how far he has come in his journey not only with his Autism but also with school. he still struggles with school some. usually with Language arts and writing.(funny thing is those were hard subjects for me.) He is now 12 and helps do the dishes after each meal at night. holds a door for someone else. so I guess we must be doing something right. He loves mine craft and has even made a complete Olympic village in Mine craft for the Winter games.

IEP Meeting

We had Paul's IEP this week and it was very good they are hoping that by the time he is in 1st Grade that he will be able to be in a Regular Classroom. We Continue to work on everything with him here at home. Today on the computer we watched a Video about vowels. He asked what they were so I explained it to him using the computer and the video we watched was an Animaniacs video.

Tragedy

Here I sit at work today Monday Dec 17th 2012 2 days after a horrible attack on Innocent Children. I did not know anything had happend until I left work that day at about 3:30 in the afternoon as I am in a very Secure Enviorment all day. I got home and spent the entire evening with the Family and it was an awesome feeling. I really feel that we "Americans really need to have a look at what we are allowing our children with Autism to not only View on TV but also on computers Facebook and any Social Media. Now that I am older and there is more on social Media etc I am thankful that I was rasised in a very protected Enviorment IE no TV. some would argue otherwise, but if you think about it we did not have all these school shootings etc before. say 1990. if we did it was not all over the news. I think the media puts way too much attention on it when it does happen. Some would say that Parents of Children with Special needs are way to overprotective of what thier kids see hear etc but there is a reason for it. The reason is this See no Evil, speak no evil, hear no Evil. if you want your child to have an open mind about things and the world then Expose them to things in a way he or she can understand make sure they do not have access to things that may hurt them or cause them to have thoughts of huring others. here is a website I found very Helpful today while sitting here at work making sure my Credit Recovery Students do not say anything about what happend on Fri.

1st Grade

Well yesterday paul started the first Grade and what day and afternoon adventure he had. it started off as a usual school morning getting dressed, breakfest etc. well then I Decided I would walk him to school well lil miss Elizabeth had her back pack all ready to go as well as she wants to go to school too but has to wait another year. well I walked him to school and all the way to his classroom door. since it was the first day. well I walked home wondering how he was doing etc adjusting and things and I get to our driveway and here comes a school bus. it turns out that the school bus was for paul. Later on that Day I walked over to pick him up expecting him to be at the door with the walkers. Well he was not on the walking list. and I went up to the office and found out that the assist pricipal had arraged for him to have special transportation (I could have hugged her) as she did not have to do this for him. so finding out that he was already on the bus I walked home and waited well it got to be about 2:45 I got a phone call it was the Asst pricipal he had been accidently put on the wrong bus and thankfully the bus driver realized he was not on her route and brought him back to school. so I walked back over with Elizabeth and picked him up. While there I told the Asst pricipal that I was Gratful that she had gone ahead and set up bus transportation for him and that would be fine since with all our scheduales it would work out best. so thus Paul's first day of First Grade.

Paul will be a Gen Ed kiddo this next year. YES

I am so very excited and happy to Report that Paul will be entering the 1st grade this next year with Minimal support from the special Ed teachers and he will be moved out of speech Thearapy in the fall. I cannot express how happy and excited I am be writing this. THis has been a dream come true for me ever since we found out about his Autsim. Paul is the MOse awesome lil guy is the whole wide world most of all I will be able to be at his school this next year and no problems. Paul still has his social and Emotional issues that we battle each and every day but I would not ever trade him for the world. accademicly he is off the charts smart which I am very happy for. His teacher this past year sent home a summer work packet for him to work on and We could tell that she had done this not just for Paul but for each student in her class, which we thought was awesome. MOre to come about our summer adventures Stay Tuned
